A father and his child make the most of a sunny day by visiting the zoo. They start their adventure by looking at pink flamingos, learning that these birds are gray when they are born. Next, they see a sleeping tiger and then move on to marvel at the long-necked giraffes.
Their journey continues as they encounter various animals, each introduced with interesting facts. They learn about camels, lions, elephants, zebras, and warthogs. The story teaches that a camel's hump stores fat, not water, and that lions can sleep up to 20 hours a day.
After enjoying a snack, Daddy and Baby meet a few more zoo residents, including a baboon known for its bright rear, and end their visit saying goodbye to spotted hyenas and vibrant macaws. The trip ends with Baby falling asleep in the car, tired and happy from the day's adventures. The book captures the simple joy of spending time together and learning about animals.
